Lindsay Lohan failed to appear at an NYC courtroom today for the first hearing on her nightclub assault case, but fortunately for her, prosecutors chose to delay the proceedings.
The actress was scheduled to appear in court (aka her second home) for the nightclub brawl in which she allegedly punched a woman in the face, after which she was arrested and booked for 3rd degree misdemeanor assault.
However, today prosecutors announced that, "The investigation into this case is continuing." There's no word on whether or not the prosecution is taking extra time to try to build a stronger case, but the delay was extremely fortuitous for Lohan. She's been partying it up in London as of late, and her making it to court today certainly wasn't a sure thing.
Lohan's attorney Mark Heller claims she's "a victim of someone trying to capture their 15 minutes of fame."
