The cast of ABC's smash hit comedy "Modern Family" have sued 20th Century Fox in a bid to get a bigger paycheck for the upcoming season. The suit filed Tuesday revealed series stars Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell were arguing that the contents of their contracts are illegal under California law.
The lawsuit argues that the contracts should be voided because they prohibit the actors from other work under the rule that they must be bound to the show from February 2009 and June 30, 2016. Other illegal points brought up include the actors being asked to attend numerous unpaid publicity obligations and pay raises capped at 4 and 5%.
The actors are currently asking for $200,000 per episode with substantial pay bumps in following seasons, as they are currently under contract through 9 seasons.
