Cincinnatti Reds slugger Joey Votto hit the jackpot after he agreed to a 10-year $225 million contract extension, which will keep him with the Reds until 2023.
Votto's deal is the fourth largest in the MLB, and before this off-season, only Alex Rodriguez, whose current 10-year deal is worth $277 million, had broken the $200 million barrier.
Votto had set a deadline with the Reds to sign the extension before opening day, leaving him to become a rarity, staying with the same team that drafted him.
A person close to the deal revealed that Votto will receive a full no-trade clause as part of the deal.
