According to Forbes Jay-Z is worth an astonishing $420 million, which he's built from his humble Brooklyn beginnings.
However, The Daily recently reported that as much as Jay is bringing in, he's not giving back to his own charity. The publication claims that Hov made $63 million in 2010, but he only gave the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund a laughable $6,431- which equals out to .01% of his salary. Beyonce also pulled in $87 million, but she allegedly didn't give a dime to the charity.
Jana Fleishman, Jay's rep, spoke out about the allegations, telling The Daily that Hov contributes in other ways.
“Jay, along with his family, provided office support, overhead support, [mother] Mrs. Gloria Carter’s 100% effort and time, computers, FedEx expenses, accounting, and treasury function support. This was at no cost to the charity."
Records show that the foundation required $1,209 for office expenses, $1,401 for telephone, and $4,696 in other expenses in 2010.
Fleishman added that Jay raised $1.25 million for the charity in 2011 during its Carnival at Pier 54 event. This amount couldn't be confirmed, as the 2011 taxes aren't yet available.
Jay just wrapped up a 2-night free concert at Carnegie Hall, with all proceeds being equally split between United Way of New York and his foundation.
