According to the Wall Street Journal, One World Trade, the iconic, signature skyscraper of the new World Trade Center project, has now cost upwards of $3.8 billion.
The gorgeous tower is still under construction, but has sucked in another $700 million since the project was originally funded and started, making it the world's most expensive office tower.
The money isn't going where you think either. The tower, once complete, will stand at a formidable 1,776 feet (intended), the tallest in the U.S. but certainly not the world. That honor still goes to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai which cost a relatively small $1.5 billion.
So where did all this money go? Into security. Most of the funds have been spent to secure and design the building safely due to the site's tumultuous past.
We're all proud.
