Takashi Murakami, is known as the Japanese Andy Warhol. His art is the shrewd visual manipulation of languages,fashion, artistic mediums and business models. His retrospective exhibition traveled around the word from New York to Germany and featured a fully functioning Luis Vuitton Boutique.
Mr.Murakami is making the headlines for his charity auction that was held in NYC on November 9th. "New Day: Artists for Japan," in association with Christies, was jammed packed by 9AM with collectors and fans alike. The auction included work from many artists including KAWS, Damien Hirst, Mr. Yoshimoto Nara and many more. Murakami, himself presented four pieces of work for the auction; that he made with the disaster on his mind.
The event raised closed to a total of $9 million dollars, for the relief of the victims of the massive Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami that took place on March 11th of this past year.
